Deslorelin acetate is a synthetic peptide that is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone super agonist (GnRH agonist), also known as an LHRH agonist. The biological activity of Deslorelin is dozens of times stronger than natural LHRH.

Deslorelin products are currently approved for use in veterinary medicine and to promote ovulation in mares as part of the artificial insemination process. It is also used to stabilize high-risk pregnancies, mainly in livestock. Unlike other GnRH agonists, which are primarily designed to inhibit luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone can ultimately downregulate the pituitary gland.

Deslorelin acetate is manufactured and sold by Omizzur lab. Deslorelin is also used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia in dogs. Deslorelin is being developed to treat endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, precocious puberty, prostate cancer and uterine fibroids in humans and has reached Phase III clinical trials in prostate cancer.
